![]() The Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Scholarship Classes start on a Rolling Admission basis. Purpose: The purpose of this pilot scholarship is to support the educational aspirations of and provide financial support for students seeking Commercial Driver's License (CDL) credentials at one of the PASSHE Commonwealth University campuses - Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Clearfield or Mansfield. Clinical Medical Assistant Training - Scholarships Available |
![]() The Clinical Medical Assistant certification course from Commonwealth University is designed to prepare students to function as professionals in multiple healthcare settings. Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks including assisting with the administration of medications and with minor procedures, performing an EKG electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and other related tasks. Job opportunities are prevalent with physician’s offices, clinics, chiropractor’s offices, hospitals and outpatient facilities. This program prepares learners to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, pharmacology, taking and documenting vital signs, technical aspects of phlebotomy, the 12-lead EKG and the cardiac life cycle. The purpose of the Clinical Medical Assisting certification course is to prepare learners to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office.
Learners who complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization whose work aligns with this area of study in order to gain valuable hands-on experience. As learners progress through their eLearning program, an Externship Coordinator will reach out to coordinate placement. Note: Additional documentation including health records, immunizations, drug-screening, criminal background checks, etc. may be required by the externship facility.
The Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) Scholarship: this scholarship has been designed to provide funding for non-traditional students seeking a Clinical Medical Assistant certification at one of the PASSHE Commonwealth University campuses - Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Clearfield or Mansfield. Recipients will be a broader non-traditional student population, seeking a Clinical Medical Assistant certification. Maximum award is 90% of the financial support for cost of tuition (including certification costs) and requires a 10% student match. Classes start: September 19, 2023 at Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, or Mansfield Purpose: The purpose of this pilot scholarship is to support the educational aspirations of and provide financial support for students seeking Clinical Medical Assistant credentials at one of the PASSHE Commonwealth University campuses - Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Clearfield or Mansfield. CNC Machinist Pre-Apprentice Training |
CNC Machinist Pre-Apprentice Training Participants who complete any 3 of the four listed classes will receive a CNC Machinist Pre-Apprentice Certificate from Keystone Central Career & Technical Center. Classes will meet face to face with a certified instructor one evening per week, 4 hour duration, for 10 weeks. Students will be given the opportunity to test programs utilizing simulators. All resources are included. Attendance and performance standard required. Students are encouraged to bring a flash drive to store their work. |

Our programs are designed by a team of professionals from each respective field, providing you with effective face-to-face and web-based learning programs. Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available through the SallieMae Smart Option Student Loan program. Visit the SallieMae website and search for Commonwealth University of PA Workforce Development. Our School ID is 003315-97.
We do not offer payment plans directly through Commonwealth University. However, some of our vendors offer payment plans that you might be able to utilize.

Act 48
Commonwealth University is an approved provider for Act 48 hours. We are currently
offering online courses through our third-party collaborations. Pre-approved Act 48
courses can be found under the Ed2Go category of Teacher Professional Development.
In order to receive Act 48 hours for any a non-credit course or to check if your course qualifies for Act 48, please contact tallen@commonwealthu.edu before registering.
