To identify and assist students who are struggling academically, LHU established the Academic Warning/Probation/Suspension and Dismissal Policy that includes an Academic Improvement Plan (AIP) to get back on track.  Any student on warning or probation status will be required to work with the AIP Coordinator and the student’s academic advisor to develop an appropriate academic improvement plan.

The goal of AIP is to help students develop the skills and behaviors necessary for academic success.  It is not a punishment or extra work, but rather includes requirements based on best practices in study skills.

The AIP requires that students:

  • Meet regularly with Student Success Specialist
  • Attend a minimum of 8 study hours per week in the Student Success Center
  • Attend 8 educational events per semester.

Failure to participate will be taken into consideration in the event a student needs to appeal for either financial aid or academic issues.  This means that participation and effort will be reported to the appropriate committees to be considered as part of any appeal process.

AIP is designed to facilitate student success!
