Five Commonwealth University faculty members, representing each of the main campuses, Lock Haven, Bloomsburg, and Mansfield, are collaborating to create a Watershed Ecology Center. In addition to creating a resource to help preserve Pennsylvania watersheds, this Center of Excellence expands students' research opportunities and career networks.

The Hunter-Harnishfeger Family Scholarship, established in 2018 by long-time (and recently-retired) Lock Haven professors, Dr. Shonah Hunter and her husband, Dr. Ralph Harnishfeger, was awarded to Morgan Marchakitus, of Sweet Valley.

In a hidden patch of space outside the Fairview Suites on Commonwealth University's Lock Haven campus, grows a solution to help combat food insecurity. In September, Lock Haven biology faculty member Dr. Heather Bechtold, along with biology faculty from two other PASSHE universities, Cem Akin from the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF), and 46 volunteers from across the Lock Haven campus, planted 40 fruit trees to help combat food insecurity on the Lock Haven campus and in the community.

Billie Jo Bollinger, of Manheim, is the recipient of Lock Haven University's (LHU) Pat Rudy Field Hockey Scholarship for the 2021-22 school year.
