The Department of Mathematics includes 7 full-time faculty members. Classes are taught by professors, not graduate assistants, who will give you all the help you need to succeed. There are currently over 40 students pursuing a degree in Mathematics or Secondary Math Education. Free student tutoring is available Monday through Friday in Robinson 409.
The mathematics department boasts the latest equipment including graphing calculators, SmartBoards that interface with computers and the Internet, and a computer lab with advanced mathematics software. The Science and Mathematics Resource and Technology Center (SMaRT Center) is a resource for students, faculty and K-12 teachers providing manipulatives, texts, calculators and other technology which can be borrowed for teaching and learning mathematics and science.
The math department has a student-run Math Club. Past activities have included trips to conferences throughout the state, game nights, Pi Day - pie the professor, decorating the math floor, and creating a homecoming float, to name a few. Each year the Math Club volunteers at the Children's Festival held on the LHU campus to show local children that learning can be fun!
