At LHU you can choose from five tracks in biology. Each track offers unique opportunities for field and laboratory experiences where you’ll learn from highly-qualified faculty.

Profile
Department Chair
Angela Hess, Ph.D.

Students earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology can choose from among the Biomedical Sciences, Cellular and Organismal Biology, Ecology and Environmental Biology, Marine Biology, and General tracks.  Each track provides opportunities for hands-on experience in the laboratory and in off-campus field settings beginning in the freshman year. Our students receive personalized attention from highly-qualified and dedicated professors committed to their success at LHU and after graduation.

The Biology Department participates in independent research projects with our students and works hard to make sure that there are ample experiential learning opportunities available. Recent student independent studies have included research in cytotaxonomy, microbiology, entomology, ornithology, aquatic ecology, molecular biology and wildlife management. Many of these projects have been so successful that the results have been presented at scientific meetings and published in scientific journals.
