Alumni Board
Mr. Dan Cruttendon, President
Class of 1973
Hometown: Elkland, PA
Current Employer/Job Title: Retired - Health & PE Teacher (Whitehall - Coplay School District)
Why did you decide to be a part of the Alumni Association?
I have always loved being a grad of Lock Haven – I enjoyed 4 wonderful years there.
I felt I received a solid education that prepared me well for my future. I continue
to visit the school often due to my connection with several sports, fraternities,
and the fact that my wife and I reconnect with many classmates that also return (i.e.
Homecoming). One of those friends became involved with the Foundation Board and another
with the Alumni Board. Knowing I was a firm supporter of LHU, they approached me
about possible involvement with the Alumni Board, and I quickly said “yes”. I want
to help make a difference in young peoples lives by being involved in making LHU a
great place to further their education and enjoy some great life experiences.

Why did you decide to be a part of the Alumni Association?
Former After becoming actively involved with Zeta Tau Alpha's 50th year celebration,
I learned of the opportunity to become further engaged in promoting communication
with Lock Haven University and alumni. I have fond memories of LHU and my college
experience, which prepared me for a 35-year teaching career. I look forward to the
next step as a way of honoring my mentors and to expand my network of university alumni,
faculty and students.

Why did you decide to be a part of the Alumni Association?
I have always felt that my experience at Lock Haven set me on a path for success.
It gave me a quality education, helped me to see the world from a different perspective,
and most importantly, created lifelong relationships with people with whom I attended
school. I would like to work through the Alumni Association to encourage alumni to
be more active in supporting their alma mater. Through these efforts we will be able
to give back, by offering the students of today more opportunities to receive the
same benefits of an education from Lock Haven University.

Why did you decide to be a part of the Alumni Association?
First, because I am so proud to be a graduate of LHU! Also, when I was a student in
need at LHU after having an unexpected life event occur, the Foundation helped me
buy books for a semester. This generosity helped me return to school and continue
to be a successful student. I am grateful for this experience and was honored to be
asked to be a part of the LHU Alumni Association. As a board member, I am very involved
with our Career Closet on campus helping students access professional business attire
for interviews, college fairs and presentations.

at this level to show why Lock Haven University really is the best school around.
I am proud to call myself a graduate of LHU and I know that without the resources
of a board such as this one my time would have been hard. The support of board volunteers,
