Protect the Nest

Protect The Neck

We’re all doing our part to Protect the Nest and we can’t do it without you! Below you will find LHU’s current COVID guidelines, information on testing, and other helpful information.

Effective immediately, the following guidance will be in place for all faculty, staff, students, visitors, and contractors/vendors:

Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania has issued an updated indoor mask mandate for campus effective Saturday, August 14.

The new policy will require the wearing of a mask (covering the mouth and nose) indoors during on-campus instruction, in-person events, and students in University-owned on-campus housing. The practice will stand regardless of a person’s vaccination status.

  • Masks are required in all indoor classrooms and/or instructional spaces and when traveling between classes within common areas of a University building.
  • Masks covering the nose and mouth are required of all individuals within spaces where three (3) feet of social distancing is not possible regardless of vaccination status.
  • For those who are fully vaccinated, mask wearing is not required in some indoor spaces, such as private offices and when three (3) feet of social distancing is possible.
  • Fully vaccinated means it has been at least two (2) weeks after receiving the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or at least two (2) weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
  • Mask wearing is not required in outdoor spaces throughout campus. All students, faculty, and staff who choose to wear masks outdoors, however, are welcome to do so.
  • Faculty or staff wearing a mask during meetings with students in closed indoor spaces may request students to don a mask during office meetings or counseling sessions.
  • At any time, all faculty, staff, and students are welcome to wear a mask on-campus regardless of vaccination status.
  • Please review the Fall 2021 reopening plan.

The University will continue to monitor circumstances on its campus and within the community/county, and will make updates as the circumstances change.

Apple PhonesAndroid Phones

Fun facts:

  1. The app is voluntary and folks can opt-in to use the features of the app.
  2. Absolutely no location, GPS or geolocation information is collected.
  3. No personal or identifying information is collected.
  4. PA’s app will be interoperable with 5 other states (ND, WY, DE, NC, and CA) and many more to come such as NY and NJ in the next 2 weeks. This means that when a person from Pennsylvania goes to Delaware, he/she/they would not need to download DE's mobile app. If the PA individual got exposed to someone in Delaware who has DE's app and later the DE person gets tested positive for COVID-19, then the Pennsylvania person who maybe in close proximity to this DE person, would get a close contact exposure alert.
  5. Exposure Notification apps are in ~24 jurisdictions, mostly in European nations and are slowly growing across the world as we all brace ourselves with uptake in COVID-19 cases.
  6. Studies have shown that even a smaller population that downloads these app, it has the potential to lower COVID-19 related cases and deaths. Oxford University along with Google Research and Stanford University published this study that app adoption of 15% population, reduces total infections by 3.9-11.8% and total deaths are reduced by 2.2-15.0%.
