Special Interest Clubs

Actively Moving Forward Club:
The purpose of providing a peer-led grief support community for student grieving the illness or death of a loved one. The club will also connect and empower grieving students to support one another and participate in community service in memory of deceased loved ones, and raising awareness about the needs of grieving college students.

Aerobics Club:
A group organized to promote fun and fitness through aerobic programs and activities.

American Red Cross Club – LHU Student Chapter:
This club will promote and support the American Red Cross programs, and provide awareness opportunities for the University community. 

Art as Fashion:
The purpose of this organization is to provide an environment where members can gather to discuss and create artistic fashions and explore their own unique style. Activities may include planning and organizing fashion events, planning field trips, designing, transforming and creating fashions. The club will also collect and recycle used clothing in good condition to be embellished with hand-stitched decorative patterns to change the appearance of clothing.

Association for Computer Machinery / PCU:
This group is organized to develop knowledge of the science of modern computing machinery.  The group is also organized to promote interest in computing machinery. To provide a means of communication between persons having the above mentioned interests. 

British Television Appreciation Club:
The purpose of this club is to organize and promote activities related to British television and film appreciation through viewings, reviews, discussions, analysis, and realization of associated cultural influences.

Campus Violence Prevention Club:
The purpose of this organization is to serve as a resource and aid for students and to make the students and university community aware of violence prevention and campus safety.

Chess Club:
The purpose of this club is to bring together the people interested in chess in a strategic and challenging way. Additionally, members will learn how to play and understand the game of chess.

Circle K:
To promote the adoption and the application of high social, business, and professional standards, to develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, serviceable citizenship, to provide through Circle K clubs a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities, and also to cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase in righteousness, justice, patriotism, and good will.

Coding Club:
This club has been organized to promote students to work together to develop computer programming language skills through workshops and tutorials.

College Democrats:
A group organized to support the philosophy of the Democratic Party.

College Republicans:
To promote party views, talk about current issues, host events, and host speakers.

Colleges Against Cancer:
The purpose of this organization is to have a national collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to fighting cancer, volunteering for the American Cancer Society and improving college communities by instating and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society.

Council for Exceptional Children:
The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the welfare and education of exceptional children by coordinating the work of student groups, concerned groups, agencies, and individuals, both public and private, who are preparing to or are engaged in the education of such children.

Distinguished Gentlemen:
A leadership organization developed to promote brotherhood amongst males on the Lock Haven University campus.

Eagles Nest Society:
The purpose of this organization is to create a pride-filled atmosphere surrounding the University and its athletic program, and more specifically, at campus athletic events.  The group focuses on increasing student attendance at athletic events, creating a sense of community for student-athletes, and in general, will be part of the foundation of building spirit on campus.

Electronic Entertainment Society:
The purpose of the EES is to allow Lock Haven University students to pursue their interests in electronic entertainment in an environment that will allow them to not only interact socially, but also act as a learning experience.  Events sponsored by the EES will encourage skills such as organizing events, building computer networks, maintaining servers, and allow those skills to grow.

Environmental Club:
The purpose of this organization is to increase student participation in the understanding of the environment through activities and programs.

Fly Fishing Club:
The purpose of this organization is to promote fly fishing throughout the school and community.

Forensics Team (Debate Team):
Compete in debate/speaking tournaments, and help students build communication skills and faster professional development.

Gay-Straight Alliance:
An organization developed to promote social, cultural, and academic activities for GSA members and interested LHU students, faculty, and community.  The group also assist incoming lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, and other students with any incoming social or academic problems they may face.

Gender Equality and Liberation Club:
The purpose of this organization is to develop programs and discussions for the Lock haven University community about women’s issues and to foster positive recognition and understanding of women on campus.

Global Viewers Club:
To facilitate opportunities for Lock Haven University students to travel abroad, with a focus being on those who are traditionally not represented in foreign travel.

Grappling Club:
The purpose of this organization is to allow students interested in grappling come together through grappling, discussion, leadership, and teamwork.

Honors Club:
The purpose of this organization is to provide and engage students in thought provoking activities among the Honors and University communities.

Inter Fraternal Council (IFC):
A leadership organization developed to guide Greek life and serve the community.

Investment Club:
Provides a forum for students to discuss different types of investments and investment strategies.

Japanese Animation Society:
The purpose is to bring students who are interested in Japanese Animation.

Karate Club:
To increase knowledge in the art of self-defense and tae Kwon Do through classes, tournaments, demonstrations, seminars and testing.

LHU American Association of University Women – Student Chapter:
The LHU AAUW Student Chapter provides students with the opportunity to support the American Association of University Women, and provide equity and education awareness programs for women and girls of the University community. 

Lock Haven University Cycling Club:
The purpose is to promote cycling as a hobby and a competitive sport in the areas of mountain-biking and road biking.

LHU Eagles Elite:
The competitive cheerleading team for Lock Haven University, the team will compete and perform at local, state, regional and national competitions and represent Lock Haven University. 

LHU Fishing League Worldwide Fishing Club:
The LHU FLW Fishing Club will promote and compete in the FLW Fishing competitions and tournaments while developing sportsmanship, integrity, conservation and skill development for student anglers interested in bass fishing. 

LHU Magic: The Gathering Club:
The purpose of this organization is to solidify the local “Magic” player base among the Lock Haven University Community.

LHU Minecraft Club:
The Minecraft club will provide students the opportunity to gather and play the mental stimulation game revolving around constructing 3D blocks while providing protection from monsters and surviving with energy taken in the form of food. 

LHU Nerf Club:
To organized for the purpose of providing the students of Lock Haven University with the opportunity to play Nerf Blasters, and to promote a fun and unique way to socialize with others and enjoy Nerf activities.

LHU Pokemon Club:
To organized for the purpose of providing an outlet for students interested in playing, trading and competing in Pokemon.

Lock Haven University Triathlon:
The purpose of this organization is to provide physical and social opportunities to students who are interested in swimming, biking, running, triathlons, aquathon, duathlons, and other multisport activities.

Lyrically Speaking:
The purpose of this organization is to promote, hone, and develop the creative writing skills of able and willing poets seeking a support group within LHU.  They also seek to improve the overall performance of on stage, written and/or recited works, in association with Spoken Word.  Last they want to strive to promote, produce, and prepare poets to recite and/or perform poetry and spoken-word on a national level, in representation of Lyrically Speaking and Lock Haven University.

Mixed Martial Arts Club:
The purpose of this organization is to promote awareness, education and appreciation of all disciplines of martial arts through training, experience and participation.

Model United Nations:
The purpose of this organization is the concern with the consideration and exploration of important events as they occur in the international socio/political realm, with particular emphasis on the historic origins of contemporary problems, and their diverse relationships to advance the understandings of the membership with regard to the complex political questions and better to understand their present involvements as they may influence future developments in the world community.

Outing Club:
To provide LHU students access to a number/wide range of outdoor activities, leadership training, services opportunities, and social opportunities.

Outreach for Humanity:
The purpose of this organization is to serve humanity through volunteer and community service efforts.

Panhellenic Council:
This group has been organized to develop and maintain sorority life and intersorrity relations at a high level of accomplishment.  It also sponsors social functions, and to cooperate with the university in promoting high social and scholastic standards among women.

Photography Club:
The purpose of this organization is to provide an outlet for members to express an interest in photography to come together to learn about the art of photography, and to express themselves by viewing photographs and taking photographs.

Safe Haven:
Promote health, wellness, and awareness of drug, alcohol and sexual behaviors among university students.

Scuba Diving Club:
The purpose of this organization is to promote the sport of Scuba Diving within LHU.  We hope to provide opportunities to scuba dive, become certified, meet new people, enrich lives by adding a lifelong hobby, becoming involved with the campus and community, and most importantly making scuba diving as enjoyable as possible for all those involved.

Sign Language Club:
The purpose of this club shall be to create an environment in which all students can learn and expand their knowledge of sign language and increase awareness of the deaf culture.

Soaring Eagle Paint Ball Club:
The purpose of this organization is to engage in and enjoy the sport of paintball.

Sophisticated Ladies:
This group has been organized to exhibit a positive image of all women, especially underrepresented women, on the campus of Lock Haven University by promoting unity, culture, and academic activities for Sophisticated Ladies and students of Lock University. Sophisticated Ladies will also mentor incoming students and those who are interested in this organization, and offer support with any social and/or academic challenges they may face. Members take pride in defining and sculpting themselves as women and future leaders.

Sports Broadcasting Club:
To bring together people who have an interest in, or are curious about a career in sports broadcasting or sport journalism.

Strategy Gaming Club:
The purpose of this organization is to bring together the players of strategy games, including but not limited to; board games, card games, trading card games, miniatures, etc.

Strength, Conditioning, & Fitness:
The purpose of the Strength, Conditioning, & Fitness Club is to provide a forum for students to discuss strength and fitness principles, philosophies, and experiences, gain interest or provide fitness advising.

Student Athlete Advisory Committee:
The purpose of this organization is to promote communication between the athletic administration and student-athletes.  It is also the purpose of this organization to deliver information from the athletic program to the student-athletes and promote feedback from SAAC about department policies and structure.

Students Against Sweatshops:
The purpose of this organization is to educate and promote fair work environments to students at Lock Haven University.

Student Government Association:
The Lock Haven University Student Government Association is organized for the purpose of acting as an official democratic avenue for expressing student concerns through the promotion and development of an efficient, responsible and representative student government.  The organization will promote a high degree of cooperation and communication among students, faculty, staff and administration of the University to ensure the rights and privileges of all constituents.  

Student Veterans:
The purpose of this organization is to provide fellowship and to act as a liaison organization assisting Lock Haven University student veterans and present Lock Haven University service members regardless of deployment status in gaining knowledge of the possible benefits entitled to them.

Support Our Troops:
The purpose of this club is to provide student with the opportunity to promote appreciation, community service and support for United States soldiers from all branches of the US Military.

WLHU Radio:
The purpose of this club is to provide the students, faculty, and staff with radio-based entertainment, news, information, and quality entertainment.  WLHU Radio will be a platform for responsible opinion and a training ground for students interested in a career in broadcasting.

Yu Gi Oh TCG Club:
This club will provide opportunities for students to gather and play Yu Gi Oh TCG – a strategic trading card game.
