Dr. Donna F. Wilson became Interim President on March 30, 2018 and will serve in this position until the new President arrives to take up office. Bringing nearly 30 years of higher education experience, Dr. Wilson has served as Provost and Executive Vice President at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania since July 2012. She responsible for sustaining and improving excellence in all academic matters at the University, community partnerships, assessment and accreditation, athletics, and strategic directions of academic affairs. She is the institutional liaison with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the University’s regional accreditor.
Prior to her appointment at Lock Haven University, Dr. Wilson served at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York as Associate Provost, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Director of the CUNY Honors College, and faculty in the Department of Classics and the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Wilson was awarded a Leonard and Claire Tow Professorship, a Mrs. Giles Whiting Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Humanities, and multiple University grants to sponsor research in the Classics. The Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies awarded her a prestigious one-year fellowship to advance research on divine twins in Indo-European epic.
Previously, Dr. Wilson also served as a lecturer in the Classics Department at University of Texas at Austin and taught Greek and Hebrew language and literature at Austin Presbyterian Seminary.
Dr. Wilson holds a PhD in Classics from the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of Ransom, Revenge, and Heroic Identity in the Iliad (2002, Cambridge University Press), articles, book chapters, and book reviews, and has delivered numerous invited lectures and refereed papers for learned societies.
Dr. Wilson has served on the Clinton County Arts Council Board since 2013 and is active in promoting and generating resources for the arts in the region.
